In this section you will find inventions of the ancient world ,which were massively used in the Late Middle Ages or Renaissance or much later

 

 

ASTRONOMICAL CLOCK

Astronomical clock (known as Antikythera mechanism ) was created in  the 2th century BC , but practical use began after the 14th century (first - astrarium by Giovanni de' Dondi (1364) and another astronomical clocks later)

 

 

CROSSBOW

Crossbow (known as  Gastraphetes ) was created in  the 5th century BC , but total practical use began in the 14th  century.

 

 

MASS PRODUCTION 

Mass production (of warship) was created in Carthage in  the 5th century BC , but practical use began in the 12th century ( Venetian Arsenal )

 

 

RAIL TRANSPORT

Rail transport  (known as  Diolkos wagonway) was created by Periander (Tirant  of  Corinth ) in  the 6th century BC , but total practical use began in the 19th  century.

 

 

STEAM ENGINE 

Steam engine (known as  Aeolipile) was created by Heron of Alexandria in the 1th century , but practical use began in the 19th  century.

 

 

VENDING MACHINE

Vending machine was created by Heron of Alexandria in the 1th century (this machine accepted a coin and then dispensed holy water), but practical use began in the 17th century (coin-operated machines that dispensed tobacco were being operated as early as 1615 in the England).
